STL are children of the breakbeat rave scene that dominated UK underground culture in the early 1990s as pioneered by artists such as The Prodigy, Acen, Omni Trio, Hyper On Experience, Austin, The House Crew and many others. STL originally produced trancecore as Shanty, Tazz & Loopy (hence the name) and Menace 2 Society on the pioneering Digital Beats label in 1998 and 1999, and performed DJ sets at numerous parties in Surrey, England. In 2009, the trio formed STL to produce an album of breakbeat orientated madness titled Rough World, which also includes a tasty collaboration with AC Slater and was released on Electronica Exposed.
