James Thompson was an integral part of Electronica Exposed's early years through his productions as DOK, James Xavier and Petrol Heads, and he was also a key
driving force on the Club Concrete and Dusk Till Dawn labels in his role as joint label manager. DOK originally came to the attention of Electronica Exposed
in 2002 through a freeform DJ mix by Canada's DJ Tyrant which included DOK's compositions 'Dark Half (Instrumental)', 'Mental Ward' and 'DOK's Symphony'.
Immediately recognising the quality of these productions, Shanty signed all three compositions to Electronic and made DOK one of the label's core artists.

Over the next couple of years, DOK produced a series of cutting edge freeform compositions, both on his own and with other artists, including Shanty, AC Slater, Lost Soul and Ponder on compositions such as 'London Town', 'No Escape', 'Gods Child', 'So Many Things' and 'Faith Alone'. DOK was also an engineer for a whole host of freeform and happy hardcore producers and his engineering talent is behind Tom U4EA & James F 'Nightmare On Base' on Electronic and many of the compositions by Blakestar. DOK's most popular composition 'Mental Ward' was remixed by Finnish legends Carbon Based, and he collaborated with them and Shanty on 'Finfish', which Shanty later remixed in 2013 for the free digital download Freeform Exposed 2 compilation album.
In 2004, James brought Club Concrete and Electronica Exposed together and launched his James Xavier pesudonym with the massive 'Floor Burner' collaboration with RFO, which appeared on Anne Savage's DJ mix on the Frantic Euphoria compilation album, and 'Weird Things' with The Mexican. James Xavier then went from strength to strength with a bunch of highly regarded compositions and collaborations with The Mexican on Club Concrete such as 'Was It Something I Said?', 'Waiting To Die', 'Beating Heart' and 'So Easy'. Equinox and Alex Calver later remixed 'Floor Burner' and 'Waiting To Die' respectively for Club Concrete, and James Xavier's compositions were supported by a who's who of hard house DJs including Anne Savage, Tom Harding, Guffy, Simon Eve, James Lawson, Ed Real, Olly Perris, Nik Denton, James Nardi and many more!
In 2005, returned to producing happy hardcore as the Petrol Heads and immediately completed a huge remix of BK's 'Playing With Knives' for Riot! Petrol Heads then worked closely with vocalists Kate, Dee and MC Chit Chat on five superb happy hardcore compositions, which were all released on Club Concrete's new Dusk Till Dawn happy hardcore label. Each of these compositions was remixed by a top tier artist such as Cube::Hard, Sy & Unknown, Billy "Daniel" Bunter & CLSM, and Orbit1, and Petrol Heads compositions were licensed to the Crush On Hardcore 2, Hardcore Baby's Revenge and Hardcore Underground 2 compilation albums, as well as appearing on all three volumes in Electronica Exposed's Hardcore Anthems album series.
In 2006, James stopped producing dance music and left his roles as joint label manager of Club Concrete and Dusk Till Dawn to pursue other interests.
