Richard Andrews is the driving force behind Electronica Exposed and is also one of its primary artists having produced and remixed hundreds of compositions as Alias A.K.A, Shanty and The Mexican, and as part of the Penguin Conspiracy and STL groups, to name but a few of his numerous pseudonyms. Richard has worked tirelessly over many years to source innovative underground dance music from all over the world that has continually cemented Electronica Exposed's reputation as one of the most daring, cutting edge, dance music record labels.

As Shanty, Richard started producing trancecore in 1997 including many classics such as 'Internal Strife', 'Outbreak', 'Cougars Bass', 'Innocence Lost' and 'Forward Motion', which were released on vinyl on MC Marley's British Underground Dance, Alpha Projects and Digital Beats, which he co-ran with Tazz. After a couple of years break, Shanty returned to freeform production with a vengeance in 2002, producing or co-producing anthems such as 'Time's Trouble', 'Beast Of Hardcore', 'Twist Of Faith', 'London Town', 'Reign Of Terror', 'Danse Macabre', 'DDR', 'Breakzdizzla', 'Speaker Demon' and 'A Freeform Way To Die', primarily on his own label Electronic, and also on Digital Beatz which he co-ran with Tazz and Concept. Over the next decade, Shanty became established as one of the most prolific freeform producers appearing on the majority of freeform labels including Electroplates, Electronic Bedlam, Hardcore Coalition, Electromagnetic, Electrode, Electromotive, Bonkerz, Nu Energy, Camel, Blizzard Tracks Digital, Uprising, Elation, Kreatrix, Full Circle, Pitched Up, ReBuild Music, Recycled Digital, Relentless Digital, 3form Records and Smiling Corpse! Shanty has collaborated with many other influential freeform artists including Tazz, Loopy, Concept, Devastate, Invader, Distressed Frequencies, Oli G, Impact, DOK, AC Slater, Orbit1, A.M.S., Sharkey, The Acolyte, Carbon Based and Epyx & Cyrez, and has remixed compositions by Oli G & Smackdown, Kevin Energy, S4 & Phosphor, Mozz, Amalgamation Station, Lee UHF, Freestyle and many more! Shanty also completed DJ mixes for the Crush On Hardcore 3 - A New Era and The Album That Was Called V compilation albums, as well as all three volumes of the Hardcore Anthems series on Electronica Exposed.

As The Mexican, Richard started producing trance in 1998 including anthems such as 'Middenheim', 'Land Of The Pharaohs', 'Shadow Stalker', 'Different Perspectives', 'Strings 2000' and the Harry Diamond collaboration 'Spectrum' on Ascendant Heights, Omerta Tracks and Interflow Sounds, which were supported by international DJs such as John '00' Fleming, OS/2 and Dave Pearce. In 2001, Nukleuz re-released 'Spectrum' with a new Mark Richardson Remix and it became the biggest selling vinyl on their "purple" imprint. Since 2002, The Mexican has successfully explored many genres including hard trance, hard house, progressive house and breakbeat as exemplified by huge compositions such as 'Night Flight', 'Energize', 'Curse', 'Waiting To Die', 'Was It Something I Said?', 'Pulsating Sound', 'Body Movin', 'The Big Bang', 'From The Dark Side', 'Main Stage' and numerous others, some of which were collaborations with arists such as Girdler Synthetic, James Xavier, Calvertron, WMD, AC Slater, Traced, D. Trac3d and Barry Diston on labels including Electrolysis, Electrocute, Electromotive, Electronica Exposed, Club Concrete, Fidget Hard, Proactive, Cardiac Arrest, KFA and Eternal Vibes!

Richard's music has been supported by a wide range of international DJs including Dave Pearce, John '00' Fleming, OS/2, AC Slater, Lenny Dee, Mario Ranieri, Anne Savage, Proteus, Tom Harding, Guffy, Simon Eve, James Lawson, Ed Real, Olly Perris, Nik Denton, James Nardi, Kevin Energy, Louk, Marc Johnson, Sharkey, E-nrg, Rx, Oli G, Lee UHF, Devastate and many more!
